Not everyone frequently cleans their towels and shower curtains due to a lack of knowledge. Towels and shower curtains are often ignored and not as well maintained as some other parts of your bathroom. Here are three reasons why you should wash your bath towels and shower curtains and how to get the job done:
- Bath towels: Your bath towel can be a naturally disgusting piece of cloth thanks to the different bodily fluids that make it on your bath towel such as saliva, anal secretions and drips of urine. Unless you're frequently washing your bath towel and letting it properly air-dry in between uses, your bath towel will become a breeding ground for nasty little organisms. You should be washing your bath towel after a maximum of three uses according to a scientist from the New York University School of Medicine. To make the math easier, wash your bath towel after three showers.
- Shower curtains: You need to wash your plastic shower curtain at least once a month or every 30 days. You can wash your plastic shower curtain in the washing machine with a gentle laundry detergent. To dry your plastic shower curtain, hang it back on your shower rod. Shower curtains can easily become a breeding ground for other organisms like your bathroom towel.
- Guests and family: By keeping everything in your bathroom clean and fresh, you are able to protect your family and guests from unwanted odors and bacteria that can disrupt life as you know it. Bath towels and shower curtains can become smelly when not properly clean and dried. You'll create a more pleasant bathroom experience by preventing disgusting smells and disruptive microbes.
