End your potty training kid's constipation with these four all-natural solutions

Feeling plugged up is no fun so we've compiled these four all-natural solutions to ending your potty training kid's constipation*. On top of staying hydrated properly, here are four answers to your child's constipation:

1. Honey + lemon juice + water

Try this home remedy. It calls for the following:

  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 8 oz of warm water

Mix the three ingredients together and have your child drink it. Three times a day before each meal seems to be most effective.

2. At least one cup of fruit

A cup of fruit per day, not fruit juice, will help relieve current constipation symptoms and also prevent future bouts of constipation. Apricots, peaches and pears are great options to help regulate your child's digestive track.

3. Limit foods that have little to no fiber

Maybe you already know this, but fiber is the answer to regular bowel movements. Certain types of foods you should reduce which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ice cream
  • Popsicles
  • Processed meat such as hot dogs
  • Cheese

4. Introduce foods with a natural high-fiber content

If you're not already feeding your child high-fiber foods, now is the time to start. Here are a few foods that'll help your kiddo:

  • Oatmeal
  • Whole wheat bread
  • Bran muffins
  • Unbuttered, unsalted muffins

*If constipation last more than a week without a minimum of one bowel movement per day, consult your family physician.
